The respiratory system is made up of organs that help to process air in
the body. The main organs of the respiratory system are the nose, throat
(including the trachea) and lungs.
While the nose and throat function to draw air into the lungs, it is the
lungs that perform the vital function of transporting oxygen from the air
into the bloodstream. It is also the lungs that release carbon dioxide
from the bloodstream, where it is exhaled back into the atmosphere.
The average person breathes up to 25,000 times every day. There are many
factors influencing respiratory health, including genetics, pollution,
infectious illnesses, allergies, body weight and even diet. While most of
us take easy breathing for granted, those that struggle to breathe, even
if this is a temporary condition, come to realise the value of healthy
respiration. Not being able to breathe easily can be very distressing!
There is much that can be done to support the health of the respiratory
system and keep it functioning in peak condition. Here are some tips:
Exercise regularly. Regular gentle exercise will help strengthen over-all
lung and heart functioning and may help reduce breathing problems provided
you keep it in moderation and respect the limits of your fitness levels.
If you are unfit, start off slowly, gradually increasing activity as your
fitness levels increase.
Include Vitamin C, B6 and magnesium to your daily supplements, as these
vital nutrients have been shown to be beneficial to the health of the
respiratory system.
Avoid sulfites and preservatives such as sulphur dioxide and sodium
benzoate as these tend to trigger a tight chest or allergic reactions.
Avoid common irritants such as spray deodorants, perfumed cleaning agents
and cigarette smoke wherever possible.
Reduce dust and pollen in your household. During pollen season, try
keeping the windows closed and opt for an air conditioner instead for
better respiratory and breathing. Dust can be reduced by replacing carpets
with tiles or wooden floors, buying washable curtains and blinds, and
vacuuming upholstered furniture and mattresses regularly.
Wear a scarf over your nose and mouth if you have to go out in cold air
and avoid exercising in cold air.
Treat colds and flu as soon as they become evident.
If stress and anxiety are triggers, learn to manage these with relaxation
techniques such as meditation, deep breathing exercises and yoga.
Many herbs are well-known for their tonic effect on the respiratory
system. Try our BioVent Drops – a quick and easy way to use herbs to
support a healthy, well-functioning respiratory system. Used as part of a
wider, holistic lifestyle management, herbal medicines can provide
significant benefits to respiratory functioning.
What are tissue salts?
Tissue salts, also called cell salts or biochemic salts, are composed of
minerals which occur naturally in our bodies and all organic matter on
earth, such as plants, rocks and soil.
Dr. Scheussler, a prominent 19th Century German doctor, conducted research
which demonstrated that, each human cell, when reduced to ashes, contains
12 minerals or biochemic tissue salts. To ensure good health these
minerals should be present in all living cells in perfect balance.
Maintaining the correct balance of tissue salts in the body will therefore
support health and vitality in various body systems.
Dr. Scheussler developed a unique and specialized manufacturing process
which allowed each tissue salt to be homeopathically prepared - meaning
that biochemic tissue salts are present in a highly absorbable form and
are able to supply a powerpack of tissue salts to the system using only
minute amounts of the active ingredient.
This makes tissue salts exceptionally safe and effective to use by anyone
of any age, including during infancy or even during pregnancy and nursing.
This system of medicine developed by Dr. Scheussler is called
biochemistry, and is still practiced today by homeopaths and naturopaths
all over the world.
Tissue salts can therefore be taken regularly to promote health and
functioning. Because they work at supporting health at the cellular level,
regular use of the appropriate tissue salts can ensure that the
therapeutic effects of other natural remedies are optimized and that the
bio-availability of nutrients in the diet is improved.

"My 4 year old had terrible persistant coughing and wheezing, due to his
diagnosis of asthma. Little did we know how dehydrated he was and how weak
his kidneys became. After the first day of BioVent drops, his coughing
stopped. It has been five months and there were two times when his
allergies flared up and coughing started. I gave him the BioVent drops and
Triple Complex BronchoSoothe both times. The coughing disappeared and he
is a normal little boy now that can run and play. Thank you for saving his
life!!"
